Terms of Service
Important: Pocket Lawyer is an informational software tool. It is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and does not create an attorney–client relationship. AI-generated content may be incomplete or incorrect. For advice about your specific legal rights and obligations, consult a qualified attorney licensed in your jurisdiction.
1. Agreement to terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Pocket Lawyer websites, applications, and related services (the “Services”) operated by Pocket Lawyer (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
2. Eligibility
You must be able to form a legally binding contract in your jurisdiction and meet any minimum age requirements (typically at least 18, or older where required). If you use the Services on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
3. The Services are informational tools
The Services may include features such as organization tools, educational explanations, drafting assistance, and AI-assisted summaries. You acknowledge and agree that:
- The Services are for general informational purposes only;
- Outputs are not a substitute for professional judgment by a licensed attorney;
- Laws vary by jurisdiction and change over time; you are responsible for compliance;
- We do not guarantee any particular outcome in any legal matter.
4. No attorney–client relationship
Use of the Services does not create an attorney–client relationship between you and Pocket Lawyer or any of our personnel. Communications with the Services may not be protected by attorney–client privilege or confidentiality rules applicable to lawyers. If you need privileged communications, hire qualified counsel.
5. Your account and acceptable use
You agree to provide accurate information and to keep credentials secure. You will not:
- Use the Services in violation of law or third-party rights;
- Attempt to access non-public systems, probe, scan, or test vulnerability without authorization;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract models or source code except where permitted by law;
- Use the Services to generate or distribute unlawful, harassing, fraudulent, or harmful content;
- Circumvent usage limits, billing controls, or security features;
- Use automated means to scrape or overload the Services in a manner that impairs stability.
We may suspend or terminate access for violations or risk to the Services or other users.
6. User content
You retain rights to content you submit (“User Content”). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, display, and create derivative works as needed to operate and improve the Services, consistent with our Privacy Policy. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit User Content and that it does not infringe third-party rights.
7. AI outputs and limitations
Features that use AI may produce inaccurate, biased, or incomplete results. You are responsible for reviewing outputs before relying on them. Do not submit highly sensitive personal data unless you understand the risks described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Third-party services
The Services may link to third-party websites or integrate third-party services. We are not responsible for third-party content, terms, or practices. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk.
9. Intellectual property
The Services, including software, branding, text, graphics, and documentation, are owned by Pocket Lawyer or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited right to use the Services according to these Terms, no rights are granted to you.
10. Disclaimers
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, POCKET LAWYER AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100), IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS; IN THOSE CASES, OUR LIABILITY IS LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
12. Indemnity
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Pocket Lawyer and its affiliates from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your User Content, your use of the Services, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
13. Dispute resolution; governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless a different governing law is required by your jurisdiction’s mandatory consumer protections. For informal resolution, contact [email protected]. If informal resolution fails, disputes may be brought exclusively in state or federal courts located in Delaware, unless applicable law requires otherwise. If you are a consumer, you may have additional rights under local law.
Edit the venue, arbitration clause, or consumer rights section to match your company’s legal counsel’s guidance before launch.
14. Changes
We may modify these Terms by posting an updated version and updating the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
15. Termination
You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or terminate access to protect users, comply with law, or for repeated or serious violations. Provisions that by their nature should survive (disclaimers, limitations, indemnity, governing law) will survive termination.
16. Miscellaneous
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Pocket Lawyer regarding the Services and supersede prior agreements on that subject. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger or sale.
